Product Introduction

Sain-Gobain Weber's High-Strength Tile Adhesive 353 is a cement-based, polymer-modified adhesive product focused on high-stress scenarios. Designed to address potential issues like cracking and hollowing after tile installation, it incorporates Weber's core formulation technology, combining strong adhesive power with deformation resistance. It has passed the French Indoor Air Quality A+ certification and the China Environmental Labeling (Ten-ring) certification, ensuring environmental safety. Suitable for various demanding indoor and outdoor installation needs, it provides long-lasting and stable bonding security for tile fixing.

Core Features

01/

Strong, Crack-Resistant, and Reliable

The product contains special reinforcing components and flexible additives. It ensures high bonding strength while possessing excellent crack resistance, effectively absorbing internal stresses caused by minor substrate deformations or temperature changes. This reduces the risk of tiles cracking or debonding due to stress concentration, making it particularly suitable for tiles with low water absorption or large formats.

02/

High Bond Strength and Full Coverage

Leveraging Weber's mature grading technology, it offers excellent water retention, preventing the mortar from losing water too quickly during application. It provides high and uniform bond strength, forming a secure bond with both the tile and substrate. When combined with standardized application techniques, it achieves high mortar coverage, reducing the risk of interfacial hollowing.

03/

Wide Application Compatibility

The mortar offers excellent workability, is easy to adjust by pressing and rocking, provides smooth ribbing, and has good anti-slip properties. It allows for stable operation using both thin-bed and thick-bed methods (within reasonable thickness limits). It boasts strong substrate compatibility and can be used on various common substrates without complex pre-treatment, enhancing application efficiency.

04/

Eco-Friendly and Suitable for Diverse Scenarios

Having passed the stringent French A+ certification (for VOC emissions) and the China Environmental Labeling (Ten-ring) certification, it is free from harmful volatile substances like formaldehyde and toluene. It emits no irritating odors during application and use. Suitable for indoor environments with high environmental requirements, such as residences, hospitals, and schools, it can also be used in dry or damp outdoor scenarios.

Scope of Application

Tile Types

Suitable for conventional tiles with water absorption ≥ 0.5%, such as glazed tiles, ceramic tiles, and quarry tiles. When used with Weber tile primer products, it can be applied to tiles with water absorption < 0.5%, such as vitrified tiles and tiles with low water absorption. All tiles must meet the technical requirements of GB/T 4100-2015 "Ceramic Tiles".

Substrate Types

Compatible with non-deformable, stable substrates like concrete, cement screed, concrete panels, and brick/masonry blockwork. It can also be used on properly primed waterproof coating surfaces (ensure compatibility between the coating and adhesive). Not suitable for deformable substrates like lightweight partition walls or insulation layers.

Application Scenarios

Covers tile installation for indoor walls and floors (e.g., kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms), outdoor balconies, corridors, etc. Especially suitable for projects requiring high bonding stability, such as residential renovation and commercial space decoration.

Application Information

Tools Required

Notch trowel (recommended 4-6mm tooth size), rubber mallet, electric mixer, mixing bucket, grouting gun (for grouting).

Substrate Preparation

Substrate must be sound, flat, free from defects like hollowing, cracking, or loosening. Remove surface contaminants such as grease, dust, and release agents. Clean oil stains with detergent and high-pressure water rinse, then allow to dry until no surface water remains. Remove old paint or putty layers down to the original rendering, rinse, and let dry before application.
For hollow or cracked substrates, remove damaged sections first, fill with Weber repair mortar, and cure for 48 hours. Before application on hot, dry, or highly absorbent substrates (e.g., aerated concrete blocks), pre-moisten the substrate to a state of surface dry/internal damp to prevent rapid water loss from the mortar affecting bond.
If substrate flatness deviation is significant (>4mm error checked with a 2m straightedge), level it first using Weber ER Leveling Mortar. Cure for 7 days before adhesive application.

Application Steps

Mixing

Add the powder slowly into clean water according to the specified ratio (typically 40kg powder to 7-8L water, refer to product instructions). Mix with an electric mixer to a uniform, lump-free paste. Let it slake for 3-5 minutes, then remix briefly to ensure smooth, homogeneous consistency.

01

Tile Preparation

Clean the tile back, removing dust, release agents, or other substances affecting adhesion. If necessary, scrub with clean water or lightly sand the back, then let dry. For tiles with water absorption < 0.5%, apply Weber tile primer to the back and let it cure completely before fixing.

02

Application

The double buttering method is recommended. Use a notch trowel to apply the adhesive onto the substrate and comb it into even ribs (adjust rib depth based on tile size). Simultaneously, apply a thin layer of adhesive (approx. 2-3mm thick) to the back of the tile. Place the tile onto the substrate, press and adjust for levelness, ensuring adhesive coverage ≥ 95%. Maintain joint width of 2-3mm (adjustable based on tile specifications).

03

Post-Application

Use the mixed mortar within 3 hours (reduced to 2 hours in high temperatures). Do not remix mortar that has started to set. Grouting with Weber Colored Ceramic Tile Grout can typically be done 1-2 days after tiling. Clean dust and debris from joints before grouting.

04

Application Conditions

Optimal application temperature is 5°C - 35°C. Avoid application during rain, frost, strong wind, or direct sunlight. For outdoor work, take rain protection measures; avoid rain exposure or foot traffic for 24 hours after installation.

Protect newly installed tiles from impact or disturbance. Maintain ventilation during the curing period to ensure proper hardening of the adhesive layer (typically cured after 7 days for normal use).

Product Specifications & Storage
